The connector identifies the stock source and provides an explicit link between a CM product and a Base item. Separate connections support multiple suppliers with access control for each vendor. Storefront, seller and supplier can be linked so that the supplier provides the goods while the seller remains the customer’s selling party.
CONNECT HELPCENTER / INTEGRATIONS
Connect suppliers. Understand your stock.
Base.com connects product catalogs, warehouses, sales channels and business systems. Base Connect exchanges data between separate vendor and supplier Base accounts. Connect Base Connector links your CM account to a selected Base catalog and warehouse.
1. How the connection works
A typical data flow is: supplier ERP → supplier Base → Base Connect → Base account connected to CM → Connect Marketplace. The supplier maintains stock in its own system. Data availability depends on what it shares and how often it updates Base.
Current CM connector: connection setup, manual mapping of existing products and variations, a read-only preview of actual Base stock, and order data checks. Automatic CM stock updates, order submission, shipment tracking and scheduled tasks are not active yet. Saving a connection or a product mapping does not enable these functions.
2. Activation and setup in CM
A. Choose your connection arrangement
- CM-managed connection: tell support which supplier you want to connect to. CM configures the account, API access, catalog, warehouses and permitted scope. You do not need a separate Base account simply to use an assigned connection.
- Your own connection: you need your own Base account, access to its catalog and an API token. If the supplier also uses Base, request its Base Connect invitation code and approval to share products and stock. An invitation code is not an API token; do not request the supplier’s password.
B. Prepare the data in Base
- Add the supplier’s invitation code through the Base Connect integration in your Base account. Wait for acceptance, then check which products and warehouses are shared.
- If the shared products are not in your Base catalog yet, use Products → Import/Export → Import now → Import from Base Connect. Select the partner, destination catalog and warehouse. Start with a small sample including variations. Before a larger import, check the rules for new products and updates to existing ones. Importing into Base does not publish products on CM.
- Check the catalog ID, warehouse IDs, product and variation IDs, SKUs, EANs and quantities in your own Base account. Imported product IDs can differ from the partner’s IDs. A one-time stock import is not ongoing updating: configure incoming stock synchronization with the supplier separately in Base.
- For your own connection, open My account → API → Add API Token in Base and create a CM token with read permission. Store it securely and enter it in the connector. Option names can vary with the Base interface language.
C. Open the connector in CM
Before the first save, enter at least one permitted storefront ID from the reference list on the right; separate multiple IDs with commas. Supplier vendor ID and allowed selling vendor IDs on a vendor-owned connection are automatically tied to that vendor account. “Connect Marketplace Supplier IDs” refers to separate records in the Supplier module, not vendor IDs, and may remain blank if unused. If supplied, mapped products must be assigned to those suppliers.
- Sign in to vendor administration and open Products → Base Connector. If the menu is missing, ask CM support to check the “Manage Base connectors” permission. Platform administrators use Vendors → Base Connector.
- Select an assigned connection or choose New connection. You can configure connections you created yourself. On a CM-managed connection, you can map your own products and view results; request changes to API access, catalog, warehouses or scope from support. Vendors can access only their permitted connections, products and orders.
- For your own connection, enter a recognizable name and API token, then save. Select Get Base catalogs and warehouses, enter your Base catalog ID and the complete warehouse IDs, including a prefix such as
bl_where shown, then save again. Leaving the token field blank when editing retains the existing token. - Set Stock meaning: available after reservations, or physical stock from which reservations are deducted. Confirm this with the supplier to avoid deducting reservations twice. Set safety stock if required. A vendor cannot extend access to another vendor’s products or storefronts; permissions and CM settings determine the connection scope.
D. Map products and check the results
- For each existing CM product or variation, enter the Connect Marketplace product ID, Base parent product ID and Base variant ID. Use 0 as the variant ID for a simple product. Save the mapping. Check every size, color and other variation separately.
- Compare SKU and EAN, name, model, color and size. If SKU is missing, manually confirm product identity before mapping. A similar name is insufficient. Mapping does not itself create a CM product or import its name, SKU, price or photos.
- Run the preview using live Base data and compare quantities with the selected catalog and warehouse. Simulated data is for learning the interface. Neither preview changes CM stock. If a product or warehouse is missing, check IDs, sharing approval and Base data updates.
- For an order check, use the vendor’s child order ID, not the combined parent order. Check email, phone and complete shipping and billing details. This preview does not send the order. Before future activation of actual submission, agree confirmed order statuses, test orders and fulfillment procedures with CM support and the supplier. Give the supplier the test order IDs. Whether changes or cancellation remain possible depends on its processing.
3. Benefits and potential uses in CM
Further development could include automatic availability updates, forwarding confirmed orders to suppliers, and receiving order statuses and shipping details. These functions require separate implementation, agreed rules and testing before activation. Stock freshness also depends on the ERP, Base and exchange frequency. Base accounts and additional services may have their own terms and fees.
Recommended starting point: one supplier, one catalog and warehouse, and a small verified set of products and variations. Expand gradually after comparing the results.
